Columbus Women & Girls’ Fest: A Celebration of Empowerment

One of the most inspiring summer traditions in Columbus is making its much-anticipated return. The 8th Annual Columbus Women & Girls’ Fest will take center stage at MPACC Box Park (925 Mt. Vernon Ave.) on Saturday, August 23, from noon to 6 p.m. This vibrant festival will transform the historic King-Lincoln Bronzeville District into a cultural hub filled with music, art, food, and community pride.

Recognizing Leadership Through Integration of Art and Culture

This year's festival is not just a gathering; it’s a manifestation of creativity and leadership, showcasing the talent of women and girls through a day packed with performances, workshops, and interactive activities.

The headlining artist will be Detroit Diamond, known for her presence on Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow, who will be joined by a diverse lineup that includes Cincinnati Rope Twisters, Starlit Ways, Kelo, Gabrielle Solange, Ballet Folklorico, and Priscilla Woodson. The range of performances speaks to the festival's commitment to inclusivity and celebration of different forms of artistic expression.

Community Engagement: More Than Just a Festival

Beyond entertainment, the festival also fosters community engagement. Attendees can enjoy a variety of food trucks, live art demonstrations, children’s activities, raffles, and booths from local organizations. Highlighting the educational aspect, a Lunch & Learn workshop hosted by Ruling Our eXperiences will enable participants to gain valuable insights into personal and professional development.

Dr. Elaine Richardson, Director of the Columbus Women & Girls’ Fest, emphasized that this event is “more than a celebration—it’s a movement.” This philosophy underlines the crucial aim of uplifting women and girls through arts and education, creating safe spaces for young voices, and encouraging community cohesion.

Supporting Future Generations

The festivities also mark the conclusion of the Empowering Young Voices Summer Program, highlighting the festival's ongoing commitment to mentorship and empowerment. This program plays a vital role in training and motivating the next generation of leaders.

Collaboration and Support

The Columbus Women & Girls’ Fest is made possible through the support of numerous local organizations, including the Maroon Arts Group, City of Columbus Department of Neighborhoods, Greater Columbus Arts Council, and The Women’s Fund of Central Ohio. Their collective efforts underline the festival's significance as a community-driven initiative focused on fostering local talent.

Free Admission: Everyone’s Welcome

The best part? Admission to the festival is entirely free, making it accessible for everyone in the community. This inclusive atmosphere ensures that all can join in the celebration of creativity, community, and empowerment.

Join the Celebration

Please mark your calendars for August 23 and head to MPACC Box Park to experience this enriching event. You can find out more details by following the festival’s journey on social media with #CbusWGFest.
